The Hermès Birkin 40 Argile in Clémence leather with Palladium Hardware is an elegant and increasingly rare interpretation of one of Hermès’ most iconic bags.

Argile is a refined neutral Hermès shade with soft beige and grey undertones, making it exceptionally versatile and easy to wear throughout the year. No longer part of the current colour palette, it is particularly beautiful in Clémence leather, whose natural grain and softness give the Birkin 40 its characteristic relaxed yet sophisticated silhouette.

The generous 40 cm size makes this Birkin an ideal choice for travel, work or everyday use, while Palladium Hardware brings a clean, contemporary contrast to the warm neutral tone of Argile.

Dating from 2014 (R stamp), this piece also retains the distinctive deeper Hermès engraving found on earlier hardware — an original detail that contributes to the character of the bag.

Condition

Excellent pre-owned condition — 9/10.

Exceptionally clean and beautifully preserved throughout. The Clémence leather remains supple, richly textured and in excellent overall shape. The corners, handles and interior are very clean, with no stains, significant rubbing or noticeable wear.

Very minor signs of use and occasional micro-marks to the leather may be present upon close inspection. One palladium plaque shows light surface scratching, as documented in the detailed photographs.

We would personally recommend preserving the original plaque rather than replacing it, as it retains the distinctive deeper Hermès engraving characteristic of earlier production.
